L. Erne Visit 2014 - Week 1 |
07 August 2014 | |
After a good deal of travelling from throughout our waterway system, the event finally reached it's starting point at the Riversdale base on the Shannon/Erne system. Our very accomodating and generous host, Graham Thomas, looked after our fleet and put his lovely facility at our disposal. Boats were constantly arriving and tying up along the canal frontage at Riversdale House, accross the weir bridge or in the busy harbour below. Thursday and Friday were busy days at Riversdale with RTE and the Brennan brothers filming for their program and an open day for locals enticed a sizeable crowd to the site. Our event officially started on Saturday with a pig roast being moved indoors due to the inclement weather. Sunday and Monday saw a considerable amount of craft work their way towards Belturbet where Week two was to begin and with a great turnout this event promises to get better as we progress through the Erne system.
