A very Happy New Year to all contributors and visitors to this web-site.

 

-A report and some pictures of our very successful EOS/SOS can be found in the Latest News section.

Many thanks to Dublin/Kildare/Powerboat, IWAI branches for their excellent Effin Bridge event and to Mick Kinahan for acting as tour guide on the morning after walk in the Louisa Bridge area.

-The latest installment of "Labour History on Irish Waterways" ( Snippets 5 ), which deals with the 1950's period, can be found on the Memories page.

-Brian Goggin, on his Irish Waterways History website, has added up-dates and maps to the Limerick Navigation section.

-More news will be available shortly, but Jamestown Festival 2012 is to be strongly supported by the HBA this year so make sure you are there - event starting on July 27th.

- Waterways Ireland did some work in Castle Harbour Portumna which is beneficial to our members. A description and some pictures are here.

- Anyone planning the crossing between the Royal and Grand Canals, will need to be aware of dates agreed between Dublin IWAI and WI for the lifting of the railway bridge at Newcommon Bridge. More information in our (members only) forum.

- RTE Radio 1 - ' Countrywide' Sat 21st January, featured a special programme from Waterford, including the musical Greene family, many mentions of the River Suir, Tall Ships and discussion on a photo features book - 'The River Book: A Celebration of the Suir', by Paddy Dwan and Mark Roper, more on http://www.rte.ie/radio1/countrywide/, and Publications and Reference page on HBA website here.
