One of the dry docks in Shannon Harbour, the one favoured by barges due to the height of the supports underneath, has been closed by Waterways Ireland (WI) without notice.

It appears that the outdoor dry dock is not available for use, because the report from a risk assessment carried out by Waterways Ireland recently, states that the winding mechanism could cause injury if not used correctly.

The Heritage Boat Association has requested an immediate meeting with Waterways Ireland to discuss this issue.
