To give you a taste of 'Culture by the Canal', the 107B Canal Boat (www.107bonline.com) project is a mini arts venue for this coming weekend, as part of Heritage Week 2011. The Barge is moored by the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre for Heritage Week. On Friday 26th a group of artists have been invited to use the vessel as an art workshop from 5.00 pm, while on Saturday 27th from 2-5 pm local artist Siobhan McCormack will run art workshops or children (materials funded by the Offaly Branch of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland). Your child's place for Saturday MUST be booked in advance, please contact Siobhan at 086 4089003. The Apollo Quartet and Offaly Comhaltas musicians will each also perform for a short time on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday 28th the barge will be open for visitors from 1-3 pm to view the exhibition material from various canal based arts projects, from 107B and from the Heritage Boat Association - www.heritageboatassociation.ie. The HBA exhibition is also running throughout Heritage Week in the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre and on 107B.
