From June 27th until July 3rd, the Heritage Boats were based at Cheekpoint Quay as part of the Cheekpoint and HBA Tall Ships Fringe event. During our stay we had the opportunity to be involved with the Tall Ships Art Happening at the local Faithlegg School.
The judges Aoife Burke, Jill Parkinson and Ken Tiernan commented on the excellent standard of art displayed. “We were very impressed. There was bravery in the use of colour, shape and detail. The Tall Ships concept was a very high standard considering the age profile of the students. Perhaps this is because ships and boating is a regular feature for this village”.
Another stated “The creativity in the art displayed was fabulous. There was a huge range of materials, shapes and colour displayed”
The adjudicators had a difficult job as they all loved various ideas in the paintings. The HBA thoroughly enjoyed being part of this project and were honoured to be given the task. Congratulations to all the students and tutors .... “enjoy and keep on doing what you enjoy.”
