"The March 2011 issue of the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland www.ihai.ie newsletter has reached me. It has several items of waterways interest.

It announces the IHAI's spring tour of Wicklow waterworks and mining sites on 7 May 2011 as well as the autumn tour (1-2 October 2011) of industrial (waterways, railway and power) sites around the Shannon Estuary, to be led by a person who lives in Co Limerick and owns a barge.

There is a piece about the new maritime museum in Belfast, on board the converted Dutch barge Confiance. There is a full page about the (later) steamer Garryowen and the Eclipse Flower, owned by Bannatynes/Ranks. And there are articles about the Ulster Canal: a neutral history, an article advocating its restoration by Brian Cassells and an opposing view by a person who lives in Co Limerick and owns a barge.

There is a review of the Lagan Canal Trust's Guide to the Lagan Canal and another of a podcast tour guide to the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire."
